Tailored Programs & Environments
At Preston Early Learning Centre (PELC), each centre, facility, and room is thoughtfully designed to provide programs and activities tailored to the unique needs and interests of the children in our care at any given time. Rooted in the principles of Reggio & the Play and Exploration Model, our approach is flexible and responsive, with program goals that vary based on the children, the setting, and their evolving curiosities.
Opportunities for Growth and Development
Our dedicated educators strive to enhance key opportunities throughout a child’s day, nurturing their ability to:
Express themselves creatively and authentically.
Develop problem-solving skills to navigate challenges confidently.
Feel safe, confident, and comfortable within their environment.
Increase self-awareness and their understanding of others.
Build independence through meaningful, hands-on experiences.
Grow holistically—cognitively, emotionally, spiritually, and physically.
PELC’s Image of the Child
Central to our philosophy is PELC’s Image of the Child, which celebrates children as:
Inquisitive: Naturally curious and eager to explore the world.
Passionate: Engaged learners, driven by their unique interests.
Limitless: Full of potential, with endless possibilities ahead.
Resilient: Strong and resourceful, capable of overcoming challenges.
Unique: Individuals with their own perspectives and strengths.
Capable & Competent: Active participants in their own learning journey.
Reggio Emilia: An Inspiring Approach
Our programs are deeply inspired by the innovative Reggio Emilia philosophy, which views children as strong, capable, and resilient individuals, rich with wonder and knowledge. This approach emphasizes the importance of child-led exploration, collaboration, and the environment as a "third teacher"—a space that sparks curiosity, discovery, and growth.
By applying these principles and honoring our Image of the Child in daily practices, we create a nurturing and inspiring learning environment where children thrive, families feel supported, and educators are empowered to guide and learn alongside each child.
Partnering with Schools
At Preston Early Learning Centre (PELC), our Fairhaven, Holliston, Willowgrove, and Stonebridge centres are located within schools, creating unique opportunities for collaboration, connection, and learning. These partnerships enable us to craft seamless, enriching experiences for children and families, fostering growth and engagement in meaningful ways.
Through these collaborations:
Joint Excursions: Children and staff participate in shared outings, cultivating relationships and enriching their understanding of the world around them.
Project Partnerships: Our centres engage with specific grade levels for enhanced projects that spark creativity, exploration, and a sense of community.
Shared Spaces: By sharing space and equipment, children benefit from expanded opportunities for discovery and play, while gaining familiarity with their surroundings.
